A R Rahman’s full name is Allah Rakhe Rahman and was born in Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai in a Hindu family which was prosperous in art of music. In the childhood days he used to support his father in his composes. But his father died when he was only 9 years old and then began the difficulties in his life. His family was forced to sell the musical equipments of his father to raise income for family. He was brought up by his mother Kareema and during early days he was a piano and keyboard player in local band. Then he learnt music from master Dhanraj. Following a number of band joining and parting he finally began his career as a music composer in the film Roza for which he was approached by Mani Ratnam in 1992. His family adopted Islam in 1989 and then he transformed his name from A S Dileep Kumar to A R Rahman. For Roza he won a National award and became recognized nationwide. After Roja his career took a swift progress and A R Rahman came up to a high level with other composes in different movies and finally became a worldwide known music artist.
